Jjajangmyeon (black noodles)

Jjajangmyeon is a dish popular among Koreans consisting of wheat noodles topped with a thick sauce made of chunjang (a salty black soybean paste), diced meat and vegetables, and sometimes also seafood. Jjajang is the name of the fried sauce and myeon means "noodle."

In Korea, singles eat jjajangmyeon on Black Day (April 14). The idea is that those who didn't give or receive gifts on Valentine's Day or White Day can get together and eat Jjajangmyeon (짜장면) to commiserate their singledom.

Jjajangmyeon is one of my favorite noodles.
